Jaws 1, 2, 3, and Revenge
Welcome! I figured I'd start this out with an old personal favorite. This weekend we had a bit of a Jaws-a-thon. While it might be a little mind warping to watch them all together there were some interesting aspects that came out.
Out viewing was on an early HD set (sorry folks no HDMI there) with a surround system and DVD player. The original Jaws movie at least for me holds it own. Watching it i noticed there was not much if any activity from the rear speakers. This was a gradual change through the four movies each using sound a little better than the last.
Special effects wise 1 & 2 seemed to know what they had and worked rather well with it. They also don't follow the 90 minute horror movie mold each clocking in at about 2 hours. Part 3 (originally in 3-D) is mst3k material. Sea World probably regrets any involvment with this one on many levels. Many of the effects i can only hoped looked better in the original format than what the home screen showed. They are just bad like the special effects person downgraded from the original movies. Sorry, without our 3-D goggles it is just a fish head slowly bobbling around the screen. Revenge went more to the originals and is a more enjoyable movie for it. I still laught at tyranosaurus shark or sharkisaurus rex at the end. At the end when jaws is breaching the water he lets out a good old fashioned dino roar.
It was fun to watch them all again especially with friends. Side comments included that there should be a fish food called "I can't believe its not Brody".
